It is with excitement that I left my house ready for adventure to attend The Style Box’s Red Carpet Preview event in Toronto!
Thanks to Google maps (and my husband keeping me company via texts) the trip went by smoothly. I drove non-stop with only one pit-stop for refreshments. As I was getting closer to Toronto, the excitement grew! The site of gazillion lofts sky-rise, the CN tower and heavy traffic added to the build-up!
I arrived downtown around 4 p.m. leaving a bit of time to enjoy the beautiful day and snoop around town. I checked out a cute coffee shop across the street called La Merceria where I spoiled myself with lemonade and bought a gift for my friend Allison. I also went for a quickie at Winners where I scored a fake crocodile teal purse!
I got ready in a Flash in the back seat of my car (pedicure included) and headed towards the Spokes Club ready to mix and mingle with the stars! I arrived at the Spoke Club at 6 p.m. sharp. Lots of beautiful people on site… I was excited to get in and see what this member’s only posh club had to offer! Upon my arrival I was escorted upstairs in a salon where other Style Box designers were chatting. My first enchanting encounters were with Dianna DiNoble (corset designer) and Midence Oliu Milleneri (hat designer). They were hard to miss with their funky attires and welcoming personality! Other great acquaintance was veteran accessories Designer Sally Han of Pslams 91:1 Accessories. With so many interest in common, no wonder we hung out all night!

At 7 p.m. Designers were invited to join the already buzzing crowd in the show room. Cameras flashing at celebrities, TV spokesperson giving interviews combined to an intimate room filled in with funky rhythms’ made for promising night! Ladies and gents were looking fine; especially hostess Amanda Brugel and Gail McInnes with their high-voltage energy seducing the crowd building on to the anticipation for the show to start.
8 p.m. – Show Time! Models strolling down the cat-walk in outfits to die-for, one after the other leaving the crowd in ‘awe’! Designers whispering ‘is that your piece’, celebrities voicing some ‘oh’s and ahs’, cameras flashing left and right... until finally, the moment I had been waiting for; seeing my XX necklace coming down the runway! I whispered to Sally ‘that’s my piece. What a feeling... it came out paired up to a sexy black plugging v-neck silk blouse and trouser pants by Project Runway Canada Jason Myers dazzling beautifully every step of the way! As Yves Saint Laurent once said “Glory only comes in gold” and golden was my 15 seconds of fame.
The runway show ended no longer after that leaving everyone high in emotions! Following the show everyone was invited on the roof top terrace of the Spoke Club. There, members of the club were already enjoying the beautiful sunset while savouring a refreshing beverage.
Sally and I tagged along to join the aftermath festivities. We schmoozed and grooved chatting the night away. We gave interviews, met with amazing people; it was all about being at the right place at the right time!
